Timeless Location
Villa Giri Ubud is blessed with a serene location and is just a 15 minute drive from downtown Ubud. This spiritually charged area is considered the cultural pulse of Bali where religion, tradition and artistry enrich all aspects of daily life.

The property is close to Goa Gajah, a sacred site of worship filled with ancient Hindu and Buddhist relics dating back to the 11th century. Villa Giri Ubud makes the most of a rural setting that personifies Balinese charm. The airport is a scenic one hour drive away.

Impressive Design
Villa Giri Ubud is accessed via a semi-circular driveway. Double doors open wide to reveal an impressive foyer that is positioned high to overlook the swimming pool and surrounding environment.

The entire property covers a sloping piece of landscape and features a series of pavilion structures built from local stone and timber. It is a design that respects the gentle beauty of the Ubud countryside and is attuned to the unpredictable elements of tropical living.

Relaxed Living
The main living pavilion is located to one side of the pool and is encompassed by a timber deck. It integrates a dining area and an entertainment alcove concealed behind a curtain. A modern kitchen with all necessary tableware is tucked away at the back.

Serene Slumber
The opposite pavilion is a split level structure. The lower section features two comfortably appointed bedroom suites with en-suite bathrooms. A wrap-around terrace ensures easy access to the pool and sundeck.

The master bedroom suite is located upstairs and has been created as a cosy wood panelled sanctuary complete with private balcony. An en-suite bathroom facility also leads to an open-air sunken bathtub to enjoy lavish outdoor bathing rituals.

Separate Quarters
The fourth bedroom is separated from the main villa and is hidden by mature trees and foliage. It is a self-contained unit complete with an en-suite bathroom, compact kitchenette and a shady balcony area.

Balinese Tower
An interesting feature at Villa Giri Ubud is a small tower that is a Balinese styled lookout point offering the best views of the encompassing topical landscape. It also incorporates a small sitting room with its own terrace.

Outdoor Delights

Griya Aditi is a three bedroom villa. The name Griya Aditi means “Abode of the Light”. The villa is designed as a modern interpretation of Balinese traditional living, each room on ground floor opening on a wide patio. The Master bedroom faces the rice fields and the infinity swimming pool. It has en-suite bathroom with bathtub and an outdoor shower. Two other bedrooms on ground floor face the swimming pool. Both have indoor bathroom with showers. The dining / living room opens on the garden, the swimming pool and rice fields. A family room faces the back garden. Children love to play in the family room, in times of rain.

All rooms have air conditioning and fan. The kitchen is used for final preparation of the dishes before serving. It has a refrigerator, a microwave oven, and a water dispenser. The swimming pool is tiled with natural stones coming from Java. The Bale Bengong is a place where you can relax or get a traditional massage. The garden faces more than 1 km uninterrupted rice fields, with a small temple on the right side.

Services & Facilities
The Villa has been designed, built and is managed with the single purpose of your enjoying a wonderful and trouble free stay. The villas’ staffs include cook, waiters and room attendants, pool attendant and maintenance man, gardener, and night watchmen. The villa manager will welcome you upon arrival. She will visit you during your stay to check whether everything goes fine. You also call on her in case of a difficulty. The villas are fitted with modern facilities, telephone connection to all rooms as well as to kitchens, the office and security post, wired and wireless broadband internet and cable TV.

Note about broadband internet: please remember that you are in Bali and nothing goes at light speed here, internet connection is not an exception. We have ample electrical capacity to power all the above and to keep the villas cool, and a 30 kVA generator for the occasional power cuts, which are part of the life, here.

Through an agreement with a local group of drivers, we provide 1 car per villa for the entire duration of the guests’ stay. Their cars are new generation Kijangs, comfortably seating up to 6 adults. The driver’s knowledge of Bali, including the most remote and “off the beaten track” roads is exceptional.

Villa Sebali is just 15 minute’s drive from the centre of Ubud, the cultural and artistic heart of Bali. All on good roads, half the drive is through typical villages, beautiful rice fields and tropical forest, and half past interesting art galleries, antique and craft shops, and restaurants. Ubud is about one and a quarter hours drive from the airport.

The house is built round three sides of a grassy, flower-ringed courtyard, with the fourth side an infinity pool looking down over a cascade of lotus and water-lily ponds to the orchard. It has four very special bedroom suites and combines the luxury of air-conditioned bedrooms with the delight of open air living. There is a fully equipped kitchen, a library/games room and a table tennis room. We have included many environmentally-friendly features, from the thick, alang-alang roofs which provide wonderful insulation, to solar powered water heating and electricity systems, and natural waste water treatment.

Accommodation
The house is approached by a tree fern-shaded path leading from the front courtyard with space for three or four cars, over an ornamental pool and into the main building.

Dining area : spacious and equipped for up to 12 at table. It is open to the garden at one side and has two steps down to the living area.

Kitchen : fully equipped with large fridge-freezer and permanent chilled drinking water.

Living area : an enormous room opens to the garden with ample seating and many art works.

All the above areas have rich terra-cotta coloured floor tiles, a lovely combination of warmth for the eye and coolness for the room.

Stairs lead from the living area to Sky Bedroom Suite : vast, with a fantastic cathedral ceiling and flower-edged terraces facing all four points of the compass with views to die for!. A large dressing area leads to the bathroom which is partly open air with wash basin, WC, bath, separate shower. One of its four terraces is covered and has seating for relaxing and admiring the garden and view.

From the living area a lobby leads to the south wing with Forest Bedroom Suite : equipped with twin beds which can also be joined to make one king size bed. The dressing area leads to the shower room with wash basin and separate WC. A door leads through to the Library : an enchanting rotunda which can also be reached directly by steps from the garden. Equipped with flat screen TV, books, games and comfortable seating, this room can either be used as a sitting room for the Forest Bedroom, or as a communal room for all guests.

Again from the living area, a short path leads over the lotus pool to the independent Sunset Bedroom Suite : this is another generous room with cathedral ceiling and a queen sized bed. The spacious dressing area leads through to the bathroom with basin, WC, shower and garden. It has its own pretty patio.

Across the courtyard and opposite the library is another independent building Sunrise Bedroom Suite : as the name suggests, this huge room with its magnificent ceiling and king size bed faces east, towards Mt Agung, and has double doors opening onto a raised deck shaded by a flower-festooned pergola. Steps lead down to the pool and courtyard. There is a big dressing area leading through to the biggest bathroom of all which, again, is partly open to the sky and has its own garden. It is equipped with bath, basin, shower and separate WC.

The garden
The garden is lavishly planted with many sweet-smelling trees and flowers. Beside the pool is a pretty bale, a traditional grass-roofed pavilion for shaded relaxation, while below it a path winds through the lotus ponds down to the orchard with its wide range of tropical fruit trees. As these mature, guests will be able to pick their own choice of fruit.

Staff
The villa is managed locally by the incomparable Rita Dewi and has six full time staff: three in the house including a cook, two gardeners and a night security guard. Our house staff will prepare your breakfasts, maintain the house and rooms immaculately, and be on hand to aid and advise you. There are many things to do and see – artistic, sporting, cultural, spiritual and purely self-indulgent – within easy reach.

Note: Villa Sebali has many ponds and a big swimming pool so guests bring young children at their own risk. The villa can be made wheelchair accessible.
